John and Ann Alexander joined the Kirby Hilton Parish at the beginning of December 2014 with John taking up the position of Assistant Priest in the parish.
Both John and Ann come from a long background in education, as well as ministry. Ann is an experienced office administrator, having been secretary to no fewer than four school heads and, most recently, PA to the Chief Executive of Hibiscus Retirement Villages which runs three large villages on the South Coast. John has taught at six different schools and was head of three of them before heeding the call into full-time ministry. He was rector of the Parish of Margate until the end of 2013. He and Ann now live in a delightful cottage in Chapter Close in Clarendon, Pietermaritzburg.
John and Ann bring a variety of gifts to their ministry. Ann is an accomplished seamstress with an artistic flair, as well as an experienced sacristan. John loves music and teaching and is never happier than when he is sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Ann has rediscovered the joys of gardening while John enjoys cooking up a storm in the kitchen! They both love reading and travel, especially in their caravan or tent trailer.
John and Ann have two adult children, both married: Bruce, married to Moira, with two sons – Johnathan and Joshua – in Gaborone where both Bruce and Moira are teachers; and Sian, married to Gary, with daughter, Grace, who are members of Kirby-Hilton.
