With love in Christ,
RIP DORRIE NUTTAL–Dorrie Nuttall, a longtime servant of God and His church, died this week after a few years of illness. As I am sure you are aware, she was the wife of Bishop Michael Nuttall, the 8th Bishop of Natal and known to many of us. Both Dorrie and Michael have been regular visitors to Church of the Ascension over the years. Our prayers go out to +Michael and his family at this time. Funeral details are as follows: Tomorrow (Saturday 5 Nov) at Michaelhouse Chapel, 14h30. Clergy are asked to please not robe. Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon her.
CHRISTMAS GIFTS–It is time for us to bless the children from the Sizanani Soup Kitchen with Christmas gifts. Please either donate towards the project, or collect a bag with shopping list and purchase for yourself. Any donation is welcomed, but the cost of one gift bag is in the region of R200.00. Please support this as we have about 100 children that will need to be catered for. Contact the office for more details.
MESSAGE–Paul would like to thank everyone who stepped in this week to assist whilst he has been sick. He woke up on Sunday with no voice, and unable to take the services. In addition he did not want to “spread the joy”. Special thanks go to Julia for coming in and making arrangements, Heather for holding the fort this week, John Alexander for stepping in to take the 9am service, and Graham Beggs for taking the 7am service at very short notice. We are truly blessed in this parish!
