The Parish in
Action........
On Sunday 25 May 2008 parishioners responded to an appeal for food parcels.
Food and basic requisites were distributed to those displaced following fears of
further xenophobic attacks.
Rev Nic Denny-Dimitriou
(Rector: Church of the Ascension) supervising the
unloading of provisions,
donated by parishioners for
members of the
c ommunities from DRC,
Rwanda and Burundi at Gateway Centre in Pietermaritzburg.
Stockpile of groceries that
were then sorted into packets for each family.
Another view showing
fruit, which seemed a real treat for
affected people
– many were already munching on apples as they went home carrying packets.
