Prestigious Award for Robin Greenwood.

Robin Greenwood, Diocesan Secretary and member of our Parish was presented with a celebrated award - the Order of Simon of Cyrene - by Archbishop Thabo on 26th November 2011 in recognition of his Distinguished Service to the Church of the Province of South Africa.

At the service, on 6 June, Zandile was presented with over 100 jerseys and a quantity of blankets which had been knitted by members of the congregation. The "Winter-Warmers" will be given to children who attend the Never-Never-Land crèche which Zandile oversees.

Fun and Games

Sunday 6th March, being the closest Sunday to Shrove Tuesday, saw parishioners

participating in traditional Pancake Races after the 9am communion service.

Skills and spills of varying amounts made for a fun morning as depicted below:

The Shoebox Project

November 2009

Congratulations to all of you who contributed in any way to the  success of the Shoe Box Project.

111 wrapped boxes have been taken to the Bulwer area and Christopher Luyt who

 told the Sunday School that we were the organization making the largest contribution in these terms.

Thank you Sunday School for wrapping well over 20 boxes in the short time available to you.

The Parish in Action........

On Sunday 25 May 2008 parishioners responded to an appeal for food parcels.

Food and basic requisites were distributed to those displaced following fears of  further xenophobic attacks.

 

Rev Nic Denny-Dimitriou (Rector: Church of the Ascension) supervising the

unloading of provisions, donated by parishioners for members of the

communities from DRC, Rwanda and Burundi at Gateway Centre in Pietermaritzburg.

 

Stockpile of groceries that were then sorted into packets for each family.

 

Another view showing fruit, which seemed a real treat for affected people

 – many were already munching on apples as they went home carrying packets.
